Overview of Program: Kiwi Specialist certification is Tourism New Zealand's way of qualifying travel professionals selling destination New Zealand. The Kiwi Specialist program offers travel professionals the chance to grow their New Zealand sales, build in-depth destination knowledge and get the latest product updates. The Kiwi Specialist program has at its' core, completion of online training modules, backed up by specialist offline training sessions. Once you register you must complete 6 modules (the compulsory "How to Sell New Zealand" module and 5 other optional modules). There are presently 10 modules for North American agents to select from: How to Sell New Zealand (required); Auckland & Northland; Central North Island; Taranaki & River Region; Wellington, Wairarapa, Marlborough & Nelson; Christchurch, Canterbury & West Coast; Dunedin, Coastal Otago & Southland; Southern Lakes; How to Sell New Zealand Maori Experiences; How to Sell New Zealand Food and Wine. After reading through the modules and completing the accompanying tasks, you need to complete the 20-question multi-choice test online. This contains questions that tests your understanding of the material contained in the training module. Tourism New Zealand will advise you of your test results within 10 minutes of the test being submitted online. Tourism New Zealand will let you know the result and - and if at first you don’t succeed - revise and resubmit the test at any time to complete the module. Tourism New Zealand even supplies some tips on where to find the correct answers! To successfully complete a module, you must gain a 100% pass. In order to become a Kiwi Specialist, all six online training modules must be completed and 100% Pass rate achieved in each section. The Kiwi Specialist status is valid for one year. In order to maintain your Kiwi Specialist designation, each year you are required to complete one additional module that you have not previously completed.

Eligibility Requirements: All travel sellers packaging and selling New Zealand as a high value destination. Managers, product planners and frontline staff of travel companies that plan and sell New Zealand itineraries are eligible to join the Kiwi Specialist program. You need a valid e-mail and access to the internet to complete the online modules.
