Overview of Program: The contents of this online Portugal Specialist program are displayed in an easy to use structure. Starting with detailed information regarding their two major sponsor regions, Lisboa and Algarve, you will be able to find basic information which will be of utmost importance for your clients in order to prepare the trip. Information about places to visit, accommodations, lifestyle, amusements and shopping is also included. The last section provides some additional ideas regarding some of Portugal’s tourist products and includes a special feature for those clients who are interested in visiting our most prominent pilgrimage and religious places. Since the country is a diverse and compact destination, this allows you to combine a golf holiday with a beach vacation, a pilgrimage with an historical sightseeing tour, or a beach vacation with a countryside tour of historic castles and ancient roman cities. There is a never-ending combination of vacation packages to Portugal that you can organize for your clients, that are bound to satisfy their varied tastes and preferences. Upon completion of the course, your specialist designation is based on successfully passing the online final exam.

Eligibility Requirements: Open to all travel agents who register for free with Travel Agent University (www.tauniv.com) and enroll in the on-line class.

Benefits: Lead Tables – On a regular basis the Portuguese National Tourist Office will send out lead tables of consumers who have requested information on traveling to Portugal but have not yet booked their trip, allowing Portugal Specialists to send out information to those consumers who live in their area / Referrals to customers – Every time a consumer calls the Portuguese National Tourist Office inquiring about Travel Agents who specialize in Portugal, a list will be sent out containing only the names of those Travel Agents who graduated as a Portugal Specialist / Weekly Newsletter – Receive a weekly electronic Newsletter, containing information on accommodations, service suppliers and events taking place in Portugal / FAM Trips – Portugal Specialists will be invited to participate in our FAM Trips, which will take place every year. Trips may last 5 to 6 days and include a visit to more than one region of the country as well as hotel inspections / New Brochures on Portugal – Portugal Specialists will be entitled to register to receive on a regular basis, new brochures and leaflets on accommodations, regions, tourism products, and other promotional material/ Road shows and workshops on Portugal – After graduation your information is stored in a data base which we use to send you invitations to events organized by the Portuguese National Tourist Office throughout the United States.
