Overview of Program: The Puerto Rico Travel Expert is an educational program designed for Travel Agents interested in becoming experts in selling Puerto Rico. Agents must attend a “Go To Puerto Rico” presentation (scheduled throughout the country or may be arranged through the PRTC Business Development Manager in your area), register online for the e-education course, review the study material and take the online test.  The online study course will provide island insights and cover travel planning for the various regions of Puerto Rico. Once you have passed the test, in order to become a Certified PRTE you must then register for the 6 nights / 7 days onsite core program. This Certification Course in Puerto Rico has been designed specifically for travel agents serious about selling Puerto Rico. You’ll experience first-hand the varied facilities and activities Puerto Rico has to offer your clients; be it singles, couples, honeymooners, families, food and history lovers or sports and nature enthusiasts. Once you have become a PRTE, you can obtain additional certification through continuing education specialty courses on diving; golf; pre- and post-cruise stays; nature and adventure; paradores of Puerto Rico; art and culture; and conventions and incentives. While this is a very extensive specialist programs, you can feel confident that you will truly be an “expert” when you have completed the onsite portion of the program.

Eligibility Requirements: The Certification Program is open to all bona fide Travel Agents that work with a company that is ARC/IATA/IATAN approved. Travel Agents that are members of ASTA, NACTA, or CLIA are also welcomed.

Cost: There is no cost for the E-education or Go to Puerto Rico seminars or local presentations. The 6N/7D Certification Course in Puerto Rico which covers hotel, taxes, transfers, seminars, excursions to attractions endorsed by the PRTC and most meals is $149 pp. (Airfare is not included.)
