Overview of Program: The Fundi Tourism Expert Course (destination specialist training) has been specifically designed to enable the travel provider to sell South Africa more effectively. The course consists of two parts. The first part, composed of eight modules, forms the core of the training. The second part of the course will focus on the Fundi supplementary information guide detailing important information on South Africa, supplemental to the curriculum offered in the Fundi modules. Helpful resources for travel agents and tour operators, the guide will spotlight the following topics: Arts and Culture, Wild and Wonderful, Sport and Adventure, Recreation, and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). Additionally, participants will receive a Fundi travel bag containing the supplementary information guide, a print file of the eight program modules, a digital promotional film (on CD) on South Africa, CD versions of the entire Fundi course and guide books, a map highlighting tourist icons and attractions, sample promotional materials such as brochures and posters, and a free gift. At the end of each print version of the course, participants will complete a worksheet (answers will be located in another section of the manual). Trainees will also undertake two online assessments. The first covers module five, seven and eight. The second online assessment covers module six. For each of the two multiple-choice online assessments you will need to attain a minimum pass mark of 80%. You can do the online assessments as many times as you need to, to attain a pass mark of 80%. Once you have successfully completed both the online assessments, a final online assessment comprising of 30 questions will have to be taken. You will need to get 80% to pass. Should you not achieve 80%, you will have to take the assessment again until a pass mark of at least 80% is achieved. This portion of the course will be sent to the Fundi course manager (by e-mail or fax) for evaluation.
