Illinois Travel Promotion Consumer Protection Act

Illinois Travel Promotion Consumer Protection Act

There is no need to register in Illinois, but Illinois has established the “Travel Promotion Consumer Protection Act” which requires you to hold client funds in a trust account unless you are an ARC appointed agency in good standing with ARC. Travel promoters must also provide a written disclosure to the consumer at the time you receive money or other form of payment. The statement must include the following: name, address and phone number of travel promoter, itemized receipt of payment and balance, location and number of trust account, name of contracted carrier(s), descriptions of services, conditions and rights for cancellation and refunds. Any violations of this act are punishable and enforceable by the state Attorney General.
